A must read for every woman, not just those who are single. I might go so far as to say that this is probably the best self-help book I've come across, and I tend to read a lot of them as someone who is very interested in human psychology, oriental religions and spirituality. The author has done a fantastic job at anticipating your apprehensions with regards to each nugget of advice she doles out and preemptively resolves them for you; it's almost like she's able to read your thoughts as you go leaf through the chapters. She also resists the urge to water down concepts in an attempt to cater to the mass-market consumer of self-help books on the topic; her treatment of the reader as an intellectual equal is truly laudable because I have gained so much from her writing. I feel lighter, more confident and more purposeful in my approach to life. Can't wait to read her next book!

So many self-help books for single women end up making us feel bad, as if the main goal in life is to find a mate. Not so How to Be Single and Happy. The science based advice in this book goes well beyond how to thrive in a crazy dating world (though there's plenty of that). The strategies--many of them based on cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy (which incorporates mindfulness techniques)--will help anyone feel more confident and comfortable in their own skin, whatever their relationship status. Loved the writer's kindness, and the great real life anecdotes.
Thank you to Dr. Taitz for bravely writing this book! I kept wishing I had this info 10 years ago (but no regrets & no rumination) The scientific explanations for why we feel the way we do and techniques for mindfully engaging in our relationships are expansive, reassuring & empowering. A wonderful read for anyone who wishes to enhance all relationships in their life and most importantly improve personal wellness.

This book is awesome. I have always thought of myself as a critical person and that’s why I was hesitant about buying this book. After reading some pages, I realized that the stories and examples were relatables to my life, and the science behind it made me give it more credit. Also, I think the practices that Jennifer shares can be used in more life aspects, not only in coping with being single (which you’ll learn is not bad at all). I really recommend this book for those who are looking for or feel the need to find a purpose in life. Is not like the book gives that to you but helps YOU to find for yourself what your life may be missing.
I found Jenny Taitz's book a rare combination of being extremely helpful, intelligent and easy to read. She is obviously a person who has thought long and deep about this subject and as a therapist has much experience working with people who worry and think about being single. I would highly recommend "How To Be Single and Happy."
This was the right book at the right time for me. While the title says how to be single and happy - it was more of a "how to let go of the issues holding you back and be happy" book for me. I found myself in just about every single one of the author's clients described in this book. Issue after issue and I tried some of her techniques and have found myself kicking several of the poor habits and senseless thought processes that have been holding me back for years. And I felt - not a lot of those related to finding a partner, but finding peace within myself and projecting a positive outlook. I have just entered a new relationship and I cannot express the peace I feel knowing I didn't bring many of those self doubt and spiraling negative issues into this relationship with me. I definitely would recommend this book if you are trying to figure out why you cant seem to get out of the rut you are in.
The focus of this really useful new book isn't how to meet your soulmate (whatever that is). Instead, Dr. Jennifer Taitz walks readers through the process of building a life worth living whether they are in a relationship or not. Dr. Taitz uses the principles of DBT, along with other evidence-based treatment models, to help single people lead stable, fulfilling, and meaningful lives in the face of often intense societal pressure to believe that it's impossible to be happy without being in a romantic relationship. I have already recommended this book to single friends and clients and display it prominently in my own psychotherapy office.
I really enjoyed reading "How to be Single and Happy". Jennifer Taitz shared some wonderful and thought-provoking examples, not only from her clients but of her own life as well; many of which I could relate to. I have been single for four years and have noticed (like Jennifer says in her book), "Single status still suffers from a PR problem". Another important message is that before we can manage a relationship, we have to be able to manage ourselves. Focusing on staying present in the here and now helps so much. Since I have been on my own, I have gotten into some healthy routines that have keep me grounded pretty well. I can't imagine my life without family, friends, exercising, going outdoors for a run or walk, meditation and yoga. You need to find those things that you love and actively keep them in your life whether you are in a relationship or not. I have also gotten off social media and television more as I found those to be counterproductive and distracting for me. Staying balanced is the key. Thank you so much for this book. So needed today.
