Amazing!!! Beautifully written and a story the pulls so many emotions from the ready. It makes you feel the anger, the sadness and loss, as well as the love and the joy of the story.

Lucien Jonas aka Lucien Jones, comes back from fighting in the war to find that has he not only lost part of his arm but also his wife and hi child he never met. Full of anger and resentment he casts aside his family and becomes a butler in the Marquess of Drake's household.

Eloise Yardley, Countess of Sherborne, widowed and lonely sets out to find the one man she has loved since childhood and return him to his family so that he can make peace with his dying father.

With sheer determination and strong will Eloise does every thing she can to show Lucien that he deserves love and happiness after so much heartbreak and to show him that she loves him beyond compare.

Will she be able to convince him to make amends with his dying father or will it be too late? Will he realize that even though his wife and child are gone, he deserves love and it's standing right in front of him? Or will he continue to carry his angry and resentment till it his bitter end ?

If you enjoy historical romances or just romances in general you will love this story. As it is the first in Christi Caldwell's new series, it would make an excellent starting point for new readers of hers. She is a wonderfully articulate author who loves her broken heros and heroines and has the fantastic ability to pull her readers in to make them feel as if they are a part of the story.

I'm usually a big fan of Christi Caldwell and loved her previous books with Lord Drake and Emmaline, but I found this book to be only okay. I thought the plot was similar to the one with Lord Drake involving a soldier suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. Lucien has suffered greatly during the War and on his return discovers that his wife and child have died when he was gone. Eloise has suffered her own tragedy, the loss of a husband that she liked but did not love. since she has been in love with Lucien since she was a child. I felt like her character could have been developed more, and I think there could have been a few more plot twists. I was expecting that her husband's brother was going to make a play for her since he was looking for a countess, but that plot possibility never developed.
Eloise Yardley had loved Lucien Jones since they were children. They were always there for one anothe she knew they would marry him. Her dream fell apart after Lucien saw Sarah the vicar's daughter. He never thought of Eloise.again. He had only been married a few months when his father bought him a commission to go to war, he came back from it with one arm and his wife and child dead,
Eloise had married her husband was dead she was now a Countess.Lucien refused to see his family since he left for the war,he hates them all.he was now an angry hard man working as a butler.
His family wants Eloise to try and get him to go home his father is dying. Eloise is still in love with him. She did Lucien a very good deed but takes him quite awhile to find out about it. I agree with another reviewer this is her best book. The book has sadness but you keep hoping for a happy ending for all the characters especially Eloise and Lucien. I would recommend you read this will not give away anymore of the story.
This book will hurt you at your very core. Honestly, my heart bled for Lucien and Eloise. This was unrequited love at its best and at its deepest. Their HEA is paved with a lot of heartache, but their journey is made beautiful because of it. I cried so much for these two. Eloise deserves an award for "Heroine of the Century". How amazingly blessed Lucian is that he has this steadfast woman in his life. Such a beautiful story of love and devotion. Read with a box of Kleenex because you will cry your heart out. Totally loved this story!!

We first read about Lieutenant-Captain Lucien Jonas in Forever Betrothed, Never a Bride. I was so curious about him then, and so glad that Christi Caldwell gave him a story. Seduced By a Lady's Heart solidified Christi Caldwell's place on my "Keeper Shelf".
Lucien Jones/Jonas has been estranged from his family after his father bought him a commission in the army. Lucien (the 3rd son) had wanted to enter the church but his father insisted. During his time in the army his wife died along with the son he never saw. Worse, he wasn't told anything about his wife and son's death until he returned home On top of everything else, he lost his arm from war injuries. Rather that return to the family home after the war, this viscount's son took up a position as a butler divorcing himself from his past.
Enter Eloise, his friend from childhood. They grew up together and were inseparable until he met the woman he would eventually marry. He never knew that Eloise had loved him and hoped to marry him herself. She is now a widow in London and is looking for him. His father is dying and his brother's hope he can put all the bad feelings aside and make peace with his father before he dies.
From the first, seeing Eloise seems to shake him out of the fog he's been living in. She brings his past back to the forefront and makes him see that his family loves him and wants him back. The trip back home and meeting with his family is a tearful experience (maybe not for the participants but I personally went through multiple tissues).
As always, Christi Caldwell manages to tell a story that makes you feel for the characters. they are well written and make you want to care about them.
